Stroke the actuato r down, and tighten t he left-hand threaded hex nu t (key 71). Tighten each hex nut to the tor que value liste d in table 7. 5. Replace the ac cess plate (key 72) and ins tall the machi ne screws (key 73) if use d. Note Skip the following step if an auxiliary handwhe el actuator is mounted on the 1061 actuat or. 6. Instructions are given below for disassembly and replacement of parts. D Disconnect any op erating line s providi ng air pressure, electric power, or a control signal to the actua tor. Be sure the actuator cannot suddenly open or close the valve. D Use bypass valves or comple tely shut off the process to isola te the valve from p rocess pressure. Relieve proce ss pressure from both sides of the valve. Drain the pr ocess media from both sides of the valve. D Vent the power actuator loading pressure and relie ve any actuator spring precompression. D Use lock-out procedures to b e sure that the above m easures stay in effe ct while you work on the e quipment. D The valve packing box may contain pr ocess fluids that are pressurized, even when the valve has been remov ed from the pipeline. Process fluids may spray out under pressure when removi ng the packing hardware or packing ring s, or when loosening the packing box pipe plug.

D Check with your process or safety engineer for any additional measures that must be taken to protect a gainst process media. Disassembly The following procedure describes ho w the actuator can be disasse mbled for inspec tion and replac ement of part s. When inspection or repairs are required, disassemble only those parts necessary to accomplish th e job. Key numbers referenced in this procedure are shown i n figure 6 unless otherwise specified. 1. Bypass the valve or other operated e quipment. Relieve a ll actuator load ing pressure, and remo ve the tubing or pip e from the top of the a ctuator. 2. Remove th e positioner, if one is used. 3. Mark the orient ation of the travel indicato r (key 38) w ith respect to the travel indicato r scale (key 36). Then, unscrew the cap sc rews and washers (keys 35 and 76), and rem ove the cover (key 34). If a manual handwheel actuator is used, it will be removed with the cover. 4. Remove the retaining ring (key 31), and slide the hu b (key 30) from the cover (key 34) or, if a manual handwheel actuator is used, remove the cover from the manual ha ndwheel actuator connector. If disa ssembly of the manual handwheel actuator is required, refer to the separate m anual actuator ins truction manual for inst ructions. 5. Check the cond ition of the bearing (key 32). If replacement of the bearing is necessary, the t ravel indicator scale (key 36) must first be removed by removing the self-tap ping screws (key 37). Ma rk the orientation of the travel indicator scale on th e cover before removing it. CAUTION Do not use a hammer or similar tool to drive the lever (key 28) off the output shaft. Driving the lever could damage operated equipment. For valves, dr iving the lever c ould move the valve disc a nd bearings away from the ce ntered position causing subs equent damage to valve parts. If necessary, use a wheel puller to remove the lever.

It is pe rmissible to tap the whe el puller screw lightly to loosen the lever, but hi tting the screw wit h excessive force could da mage the op erated equipme nt. With the lever and output shaft properly m arked, unscrew the cap screws (key 24) and remove the mounting pl ate (key 23) an d output s haft (key 94) ass emb ly from the actuator housing (key 21). If necessary, remove the reta ining ring (key 95) and separate the output sha ft from the mountin g plate. For 50.8 mm (2- inch) output shafts, refer to step 7 for this procedure. 7. For an actuato r with either a J mounting a daptatio n (see figure 6), or an H mounting a daptat ion with a 50.8mm (2-inch) output shaft (see figure 7), proceed as follows: Remove the cap screws (key 87, not shown in figure 6) and re move the actuator from t he op erated equipment. When s eparating the out put shaft (key 94) an d coupling (key 97) from the operated sh aft, remember to remove the woodruff k ey (key 98, not shown in figure 7) from the operated shaft keyway. Mark t he orientation o f the lever (key 28, figure 6) wi th respect to the o utput shaft (key 94). Then, loosen t he cap screw (key 29, figure 6) so that the output shaft is free to sl i d eo f ft h el e v e r.W i t ht h el e v e ra n do u t p u t s h a f tp r o p e r l y marked, unscrew the c ap screws (key 24) and remove either the mounting yoke (key 23, figure 6 for J m ounting) or the mounting plate (key 23, figu re 7 for H mounti ng) plus the a ttached output shaft (key 94) from the actuator housing (key 21). If n ecessary, remove th e retaining ri ng (key 95 ) and slide th e mounting yok e or mounting pl ate off the out put shaft. 8. Check the bear ing (key 81) i n the mounting yoke or th e mounting pla te (key 23). Then, remove the cap sc rew and hex nut (keys 13 and 14), and remove the lever (key 28) from the housing. 10. Remove the rod end beari ng and the hex nut (ke ys 12 and 11), and t hen the turnbuckle an d the hex nut (key s 70 and 71). 11.

For size 30, 40, and 68 actuators only, unscrew the cap sc rews (key 6) and remove the cylinder cap (key 4). For actuato rs with 60-degree rotation, a travel stop (key 15) will also be removed with these parts. 17. Check and, if necessary, replace the O-rings (keys 17 an d 18) and the thrus t washer (key 74 ). Assembly 1. Apply lit hium grease (key 93) to the su rfaces of the sliding seal (key 19). Then, install the seal support cylinder (key 20), the thrust washer (key 7 4), the sliding seal, and the cylinder flange (key 2) a nd secure these parts with the cap screws (key 22). Tighten the cap screw s to the torque value listed in table 7. For actuators with 60-deg ree rotation, a travel stop (key 15) will be threa ded into the cylinder flan ge. 2. Apply lithium grease ( key 93) to the cylind rical surface of the piston rod (key 10) and a pply anti-seize seala nt (key 91) to the tape red end of the piston rod. Attach the pisto n and washer (keys 7 an d 77) to the piston rod, and secure them with the cap screw or hex nut (key 9). Tighten the ca ps c r e wo rh e xn u tt o t h et o r q u ev a l u el i s t e di n t a b l e7. 3. Insert the piston and piston rod assembly down through the sliding seal (key 19). Attach the hex nut (key 71), the turnbuckle (key 70), the hex nut (key 11), and the rod end b earing (key 12) to the piston r od assembly. Tighten both hex nuts to the torque value l isted in table 7. Tighten all cap scr ews to the torque value list ed in table 7. 5. If the bearing (key 81) was removed, press in the new b earing. Then, attach the mountin g plate and output shaft assembly to the actuator housi ng (key 21) with the cap screws (key 24). Tighten the cap screws to the appr o p r i a t et o r q u ev a l u el i s t e di nt a b l e7. 7. For an ac tuator with a n H mounti ng adaptation an d a 50.8m m (2-inch) output shaft, refer to figure 7.

Install the output shaft (k ey 94) with atta ched coupling (key 9 7) through the mount ing plate (key 2 3) and secure it with the retaining ring (key 95). Attach the mounting plate and output shaft assembly to the actuator housing with the cap screws (key 24). Attach the mounting yoke and out put shaft assembly to the actuator housing (key 21) w ith the cap screws (key 24). T ighten the cap screws to th e approp riate to rque value liste d in table 7. 9. Apply lithi um grease (key 93) to the out put shaft spli nes. Then, align t he lever (key 28) and output s haft so that the marking that wa s made in step 6 or 7 of the disassembly proc edure is oriented correctly. Slide the lever into place. When installing the lever, align the b olt holes in the lever as close as possi ble wit h the hole in the rod end beari ng (key 12). Temporarily rotate the lever and output shaft until the rod end bea ri ng no longer interferes with further installatio n of the lever. T hen, slide the lever as fa r as it can go onto the ou tput shaft. 10. Clamp the lever to th e output shaft with the ca p screw (key 29). Tigh ten the cap screw to the torque va lue listed in table 7. 11. Rotate t he lever to ali gn with the rod end bearing (key 12). This connection can be aided by carefully stroking the actuator wi th a regulated ai r source. 12. Apply thread-locking adhesive (medium strength) (key 92) to the threads of the cap screw (key 13). Then, connect the lever and the rod en d bearing with the cap s crew and hex nut (keys 1 3 and 14). Tighten th e cap screw to the torque value list ed in table 7. 13. If a positioner is used, consult the separate position er instructi on manual for proper i nstallati on. 14. Install the hub (k ey 30) and the bea ring (key 32) into th e cover (key 34), a nd secure them with the retaining ring (key 31). 15.

Inst all the travel i ndicator scale ( key 36) so that the m arkings on the s cale and cover that wer e made in step 5 of the disassem bly procedure are o riented correctl y. Secure the t ravel indicato r scale to the c over with the self-tapping screws (key 37). Then install the travel indic ator (key 38), and secure it wi th the self-tappin g screws (key 39). 16. Note the posi tion of the valve o r other operated equipment and the directi on of rotation. Tighten t h ec a p s c r e w st ot h et o r q u ev a l u el i s t e di nt a b l e7. b. If the actuator is equipped w ith a manual handwh eel actuator, refer to the separate inst ruction manu al for mounting in structions. 17. Follow the in structions in the A ctuator Moun ting portio n of the Installat ion section for correct a ctuator moun ting and adjustment. Rem ember to replac e the access plate (key 72 ) when performing these procedur es. Changing Actuator Mounting The actuator is norma lly positioned ver tically in a horizo ntal pipeline. However, the re are two possible mou nting styles a n df o u rp o s s i b l ep o s i t i o n sf o re a c hs t y l e( s e ef i g u r e4 ).
